Forgive Me Father for I Have Sinned? Confession to Priest
Catholic confession usually goes something like this “Forgive me, father, for I have sinned. My last confession was…” from there the confessor works backwards to tell the priest all sin they can remember (since their most recent confession and penance) then the priest responds to know more, and after a little dialog he gives counsel to tell you what to do to have these sins covered. My question is how come the catholic church require confession of sin to priest opposed to confessing to God?
