Someone once told me that Jesus could and does use false teachers and false ‘gospels’ to bring people to he truth. Is there any truth to this?
I would say no because God does not lie. He is the way, the TRUTH and the life.
Awesome question – a lot to ponder. Here are my thoughts.
Is using something corrupt for the benefit of His people and His glory the same as being corrupt? Think of the countless injustices that were done to Joseph that God used to lift him up, to bring glory to Himself and to prosper His people.
“As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today.” Genesis 50:20
God can use the worst of sinners to accomplish His will, even if said sinners remain enemies of God.
That being said, there are many warnings in scripture about false teachers and false gospels. We need to always be guarded against them. But that doesn’t mean that God can’t use a false teacher despite their false gospel. To do so would make Him neither a liar or unjust, it would just be another manifestation of His grace redeeming what was meant for evil.
