What is the significance of the number “10” of The Parable of the Ten Virgins?

I don’t think there is any significance in the number of virgins. Every bride has bridesmaids & maybe 10 was a common number at a wedding.

And I think the point of the parable is in their actions… good question though, I never really thought about it.

10, scripturally is the number of ordinal perfection as concerning the law, however 5 is the number of grace that overrides ordinal perfection.

There is a book, “Numbers in Scripture,” by E.W. Bullinger over 100 years ago you might consider checking out. He writes in the victorian style, so it is tedious to study, but might be worth your while to check out, you can get a used copy on Amazon for about $10. He and his father were both considered heretics in their time, but so was Tyndale. His commentary on Revelation is perhaps the best I have seen.
